First thing :- I have been suffering from Constipation since childhood. My age is 25 now. Around 6-7 years back, I got gas trouble and skin allergy problem. At that time it was little trouble. But now, it has increased very much. It makes rashes on my skin throughout the whole day, like when mosquito bites. Then it disappears within 1/2 or 1 hour. Again it will appear after 2-3 hours then will disappear within 1/2 hour or 1 hour until I take some medicine for allegy.
I don't understand is this food allergy or anything else. Also
Whenever I stick some bandage to my skin, and I remove it, it leaves big rashes.
Second thing :- My constipation problem is much less now because I m very cautious about my food and don't take dinner at night also. But I don't know why Gas occurs. It definitely happens in the morning when I take dinner at night. It pains in my left side stomach too much and makes sound from there, instead of passing through rectum. It is too embarassing.
Thanks
Constipation, gas %26amp; skin allergy?
aloe vera does relieve constipation. It is a very good fiber rich antoxidant. As such it helps in easing constipation. Aloe is good for a number of other ailments as well.Aloe Vera also contains aloin, which in small dosages acts as a natural laxative.
i recommend Arbomin-Plus(Namyang Aloe)!!!

Skin allergy - below lower lip?
i have a skin allergy below my lower lip and is itchy and red. my dermatologist told me it was caused by food particles stuck in my braces which i wasn't able to brush off completely. she advised me to use travoderm used for rashes, etc. and colloid cream afterwards to get rid of the red marks and make my skin clear like my fair skin is. it has been three weeks and still my allergy is there. help! i'm sometimes wondering if acid or drooling in my sleep is the culprit. has this happened to anyone? how did you get rid of it and what did you use to clear the redness and make the skin tone go back to normal? thank you!
Skin allergy - below lower lip?
I have never had braces so this is a total guess. Do you have an allergy to laytex? Perhaps your right about the drooling and if you have rubber bands on your braces maybe they are the problem. Good luck!

Skin allergy in dogs?
my shih tzu has a skin allergy, vet said. its only by his rear, and he is biting that area silly to the point where they're raw and red. i took him to the vet and he prescribed clavamox pills and children's benedryl.
only, it doesn't seem to be working. its been almost 2 weeks [he's due back for a checkup next wednesday] and there doesn't seem to be any improvement what-so-ever.
i don't want to take him back and the vet prescribe other pointless meds and waste our money, because we suspect that that vet clinic is overpricing us.
so im wondering if there's anything i can do? vet didn't tell us what was the cause of his skin allergy, so i'm wondering if there's anyway we can find out?
also, we're feeding him beneful, (i know it's bad, we're switching as soon as it runs out) and he's been eating that for maybe about 5, 6 years now and im thinking it might be that, but i need to know for sure. does beneful have a history of causing skin allergy in dogs? and in the meantime is getting
Skin allergy in dogs?
Yup its the Beneful! Beneful is full of fillers like corn and soy which are typical allergins to dogs and cats.
It sounds like you are describing a hotspot which can be cleared up with switching food. By switching foods you will helping the skin allergy from the inside out instead of just treating the spot with some medicine.
Do some reading about what is actually in foods like purina, iams, alpo, ol'roy...usually I recommend staying away from foods that are sold in mass quanities at large petstores and grocery stores because those are the foods that have lots of fillers and byproducts that can cause allergies even if a pet has been eating these products for most of their lives.
I would look in your phone book for some smaller pet food speciality stores..they are out there and they will have better quality foods to help with your dogs allergies. You might need to find a food with an alternative protein source like lamb or fish or rabbit to help with those allergies and add fish oil to your dogs diet to help his body repair its self from all the garbage quality food he has been eating.
Also try giving him purified water, sometimes chlorinated water does make pets have skin allergies and it is cheap to just fill his bowl from the Brita filter.
I really hope you do some reading because in the long run you'll find that if you feed better quality food your dog will be eating less to get good nutrition which also means less waste which makes a happy owner.
Look up a few of these brands and see if they are in your area
Canidae, Wellness, California Natural, Innova, Nature's Variety, Chicken Soup for the Dogs Soul, Timberwolf Organics... there are so many good foods out there that people don't know about until their dog has a problem like this and it forces them to go outside the box and look good food.
Reply:the food is probably causing the allergy. My dog eats Purina One and he has allergies too. But he bites at his stomach and legs.
Once I get money I am switching him to a grain free food like canidae.
Reply:Beneful is crap, and yes, it has a history of all kinds. Throw the rest of the bag away, and never look back. You, and your dog, will BOTH be happy you did!
Reply:if you really want to know the root cause of the allergy itself. take your dog to a animal dermatologist. it's kind of expenseive but WELL worth every penny. I'm a Vet Assistant and we see tons and tons of animals with skin allergies and no matter what the owner does, it wont go away. call around other vets to see if there are any pet dermatologists in your area. I've also got a dog who's ears are really bad. i've spent over 600 dollars to help his ears and nothing is helping. so i've made the decision to take him to the dermatologist. in my area its about 300 dollars, but that also incudes what exactly he's allergic to, and they will prescribe something for that allergy. i really do believe its well worth every penny. if you dont want to do that, then change the food asap. just like you mentioned you will be doing. but i'd personally just throw that stuff out. theres a food from Science Diet called Z/D. i've got my dog on this and it has been helping. it's a food just for dogs with skin allergies. or just get a medium to most expensive brand of dog food with fish as the ingrediant. go back to your vet and see what he/she says. if they want to prescribe another prescription then just say no, and walk out. but i would give them another chance. Clavamox is just an antibiotic. and the childern's benedryl wont work miracles. so see what else they say for you to do. make sure next time you see them to ask what the cause of the skin allergy can be. did they do a skin scraping? maybe it's yeast and that when giving something like Animax will go away in time. If you have anymore questions, just email me. God Bless
Reply:If you're feeding beneful then there's your answer. You need to switch his food to a food that is made with Fish and has little or no grains. My dog had a bad allergies. After spending $1,000 for treatment i switched her food to "Wellness Fish %26amp; Sweet Potato" formula and within a month her skin was completely back to normal. She stopped itching and all her hair began to grow back. That happened about 9 months ago. She is still on that food and she hasn't had any skin problems or itching episodes since then. That food is miricle stuff.
Reply:For one thing, beneful is NOT inherently bad, but it does have a lot of flavor so some dogs tend to overeat. And it does contain corn and beef, so dogs with food allergy will react to it. The skin allergy in the rear is often caused by fleas, and no it does not mean your dog is crawling with them. You may not see any fleas at all. An animal that is allergic to fleas will itch for up to 6 weeks from a single bite, and is typically raw, red and bald over the butt. If antihistamines aren't working, the next step is to try a short course of steroids to calm the immune response. Most vets will try Benadryl or Chlorpheniramine before jumping to a steroid because of the side effects. Antibiotics are often prescribed if the skin is broken or there's a secondary infection.
Several other things can cause allergies in dogs, and they tend to be the same things that make us allergic-certain foods, pollen, dust mites etc. Common food allergens are beef, chicken and corn. Thats why the fish-and-potato diets provide relief to some dogs. You don't have to buy the most expensive food, just read the labels and eliminate those 3 proteins (yes corn IS a protein source in dog food, NOT filler). Z/D is specially processed so the proteins are too small for the immune system to recognize, and it is a very expensive prescription food. It can be tricky to figure out what a particular dog is allergic to, there are blood and skin tests to help with that but they can be costly. Skin testing is more accurate, but requires you to visit a veterinary dermatologist. Blood tests can be drawn by your regular vet and sent to an out of house laboratory. If you can figure out the cause (or often, causes) of the allergy, then you can take steps to reduce or eliminate it-keeping your dog on Frontline all the time if he's allergic to fleas, for example, or getting a beef-free diet if he's allergic to beef. Hope I hepled.
*edit* The cone is not a bad idea if he's chewing, but just keeping him off the area won't be enough for it to go away. You have to treat the cause.
Reply:Sometimes its a process of elimination to see what might be causing it. Try changing food first and see what happens.Corn is in most dog food and is a common food allergy for dogs.
Reply:What it sounds like are hot spots, which can be caused by an allergy.
Yes, I suspect it is caused by the horrible food you feed.
Remember, when switching foods, switch GRADUALLY over a course of 1-2 weeks.
Try a food without corn, wheat, soy, dye, digest, by-product, etc.
Try a single protein based food, and a single carb.
Yes, a cone will help keep him from biting at it.
Children's Benadryl isn't always effective for some dogs, which was the case with mine.
I took her to an Animal Dermatologist, had her allergy tested, and have her on a stronger antihistamine which is working WONDERS. And, I take the same meds myself.
Two weeks is not long enough to see an improvement for such a bad reaction/allergy. Give it more time.
only, it doesn't seem to be working. its been almost 2 weeks [he's due back for a checkup next wednesday] and there doesn't seem to be any improvement what-so-ever.

Yes, I'd switch his food to something that doesn't contain corn or grains. Both can cause skin problems in dogs, and neither ingredient is necessary or even good for a dog. Here's a website:

Short-term, YES, get the E-collar for him. Poor guy, he must be so uncomfortable!
I have a suggestion ... why don't you post this question in the "dogs" section of YA! There are lots of good, helpful people who frequent that category, and they can probably give you some useful advice!
Good Luck ... hope you get the problem sorted out!
Reply:Do you have any fish pond any where nearby? It probably has eaten some fish feed.
Reply:We have a shih tzu also which used to have skin allergies when we first got her at a yr. old. Our vet gave her an injection which gave her instant relief but we discovered later that type of food %26amp; type of dog shampoo have a lot to do with causing dry skin to make them itch.
A suggestion would be to take your dog to a groomer for a medicated shampoo or have him/her suggest a good shampoo (a good rinsing to remove all soap is important also). We feed her Nutro Natural Choice (chicken, oatmeal %26amp; rice) dry dog food found at Petco or Petsmart %26amp; seems to have helped her skin %26amp; is easy on her stomach also since most Shin tzus have senstive stomachs.

Allergies are funny things....in dogs they are especially hard to nail down, because they tend to have skin reactions to inhaled allergens as well....Shoot, he could be allergic to dust, the perfume YOU wear, literally anything....
Try adding some flax seed oil to his diet, about a half teaspoon a day for a pooch that size. I could explain why, but its almost 4am, and I need to go to bed.....it helps reduce the inflammation portion of the allergy process -

I'd check with a hair stylist. They would know pretty much all the ways to color your hair. If you want bleached blond, then all I can think of is peroxide, but I don't think it's good for your hair. Sorry I can't help more.

You could try a natural dye like the kind they have at the organic/health food stores.
Reply:i just clicked a random color in each brand they had in the local Lovey's Market, which is a natural food co-op type whole food's store. here's what i found:

naturtint (for men): http://www.loveysmarket.com/shop/product...
naturtint (original): http://www.loveysmarket.com/shop/product...
that's what i found on lovey's. if you know of a whole food's type store in your area (check yahoo yellow pages for natural food stores, organic food stores, or co-op stores), most have a skin, hair, body care section, but check their website first. i went to fresh market this weekend, and they didn't :( also, amazon.com has a grocery section now with an organic section you might want to try. just watch out for henna, and check the ingredients for it. and check the type of color: organic color comes in permanent and semi-permanent.
good luck!

I've been getting a kinda rash(light patches) on my hand and now i've noticed that it has come on the other hand too...i've been applying skin ointment, sandalwood paste etc...at times it itches especially when i go out in the sun...elders tell me they are sun burns...i've never showed it to a doctor ...do u think i need to see a dermatologist ??how can i reduce it??
Skin allergy?
I have that too. I went to the dermatologist. He gave me a really strong cortisone. It was gone in 2 days. I think it's eczema.
Reply:I get light rashes when the warm times hit. I especially get them after I put SPF on or I've been out in the sun too long. Cool compresses and hydrocortisone cream tend to work for me. If they are uncomfortable enough, then I would definitely suggest you see a doctor.
Reply:.Go to the doc, it's not a normal sun burn and needs to be treated
Reply:You might have what is called photosensitivity (what many refer to as a sun allergy). There are also several subtypes of this problem that require different treatments. You can google "photosensitivity" and you will get lots of articles that explain all about it. I would check it out, and if it doesn't go away, definitely go see your doctor! My husband has a type of photosensitivity and gets a rash at the beginning of the summer every year. His doctor has given him medication in the past that makes it go away. Good luck!
Reply:Sounds like dry skin. What are you washing your hands with throughout the day-change it up and see if anything different happens.

Skin affections ares merely local manifestations of some constitutional affection. They represent the effort of nature to get rid of some poison in the system, congenital or acquired, which effort should not be suppressed but abetted. The indications for our remedies will not only aid in this by correction of the soil, but also avoid the dangers of suppression by external applications.

our great remedy for all sorts of skin diseases, no doubt often mis-prescribed, and hence frequently disappoints. The symptoms calling for it are very clear; there are moist scabby eruptions on the scalp, face, bends of joints, between fingers and behind the ears. The corners of the mouth and eyes are cracked, bleeding and oozing a gluey, honey-like, thick, tenacious discharge, a fissured eczema is the type. Great itching always accompanies the eruption. The skin may be dry and horny. The hair is dry and falls out. Lycopodium. Dry scaly eruptions. Calcarea carbonica. Eczema on scalp which extends to face. Skin allergy?
Skin affections ares merely local manifestations of some constitutional affection. They represent the effort of nature to get rid of some poison in the system, congenital or acquired, which effort should not be suppressed but abetted. The indications for our remedies will not only aid in this by correction of the soil, but also avoid the dangers of suppression by external applications.

What do skin allergies to cats look like?
Skin allergies in cats can be anything from redness,to open "hot spots" sores on the cat from the cat biting to relieve itching some scab over while others become infected, with a yellow discharge that may have an odor. Usually affected areas are on top of the tail and belly ears- even though the cat may not have the problem there they are the parts they can reach. Most common allergy is the flea, and just one bite can drive the cats nuts if they are allergic, as the cat ages the allergy gets worse. Fleas also leave their waste in the cats coat, that looks like pepper, if you see some specs that look like pepper but when wet it turns red, it's dried blood, from flea waste if the cat has any white colored hair this is a good place to check for flea dirt- then you would want to get the cat bathed by yourself or a professional groomer depending on his temperment, and at the same day use foggers in the house, this may have to be repeated in a week if this is the problem. Some cats have an overactive subateous gland that produces too much oil and they lick again on top of the tail and can cause an irritation this is not a allergy but something that needs to be cared for. I am a professional pet groomer and vet tech, and have been in this field over 20 years. I hope this helps but always check with your vet to be sure good luck kacy
What do skin allergies to cats look like?
like a rash on the surface of your skin. It may be slightly irritated as well.
Reply:flakey skin, hair loss, a rash maybe, little pimply bumps
Reply:I had a cat once who had skin allergies that bothered her so much that she pulled out her fur. There would be "raw" spots where she'd yanked out a mouthful. Thankfully the vet put her on medication that cleared it up.
Reply:Dry patches of flakey skin. Sometimes the skin can get red and inflamed. Hairloss in the area of the dry patch may also occur. To find out for sure, have the kitty looked at by your vet.

Waxing Body Hair and Skin Allergies?
I am a girl who is dark-skinned but has eczema (allergic to fragrance in lotions, soaps and creams). Does anyone know how I can remove (other than shaving) body hair on my chin and torso area without developing an allergic reaction? Do salons carry fragrance-free products??

Does anyone have a Maltese with skin allergies????
I have an 8 month old Maltese and she started chewing, scratching and pulling the hair off her one leg. The vet said to give Benadryl. That worked for awhile but now she started again. She had some scabs on her head and on the side of her face from scratching. Now the vet thinks it could be from her food. I had her on Royal Canin puppy food but after she got spayed the vet said to give her adult food so I got Royal Canin Special 30. She has been on it for about 3 weeks now. Would it be the food? He gave me Annamaet but she is not fond of it. Is it possible to get another good food and mix it without making her sick? I would get one that is also good for dogs with allergies. Can anyone help? I don't want her to have allergies all her life so I would like to correct it now if it is from her food.
Does anyone have a Maltese with skin allergies????
I would suggest finding a Veterinary Dermatologist or Vet School with access to specialists. Many regular vets are not as good as diagnosing allergies as they could be.
You need to get skin tests done to find out exactly what she is allergic to. For food allergies they will put your dog on an elimination diet, to weed out what triggers her allergies.
White dogs with pink skin, like Maltese and Bichons tend to be very prone to allergies. Talk to your breeder as well, if they are a good breeder they should have some ideas for you as well.
READ the labels on both foods. See if there is huge difference in main ingredients. If I read it right, the main difference is that CORN is the second ingredient in the adult diet and Corn is a major no no with many allergy prone breeds.
Look at something with no corn or wheat in the first 5 ingredients...preferably no corn at all. If you esp. like Royal Canin they do make special diets......with no corn. They make a Hypoallergenic food as well as the single source protein foods.
Potato and Whitefish for example:
http://www.royalcanin.us/vetdiet/caninep...
If all you have changed is the food, then I would suspect the food. I would gradually over 3 days blend her over to a new food and use plain canned pumpkin if her stool gets loose.
Reply:Has she been de flead with a treatment like Frontline or Advantage lately??? Sounds like it maybe worth a shot. Otherwise use oatmeal based shampoos to help sooth the skin and you can buy special food for sensitive skins from science diet
Reply:My Cavalier is having a food allergy. All her hair fell out making her look like she had Mange. The Vet gave her a shot to stop the itching and said to feed her Wellness Fish and Sweet potato formula. She is also taking fish pills and Vitamins. Since she's been fed that her hair has grown back all shiny and she has stopped itching completely. Food allergies are the hardest to diagnose.
Reply:i wouldn't keep switching foods until i knew for sure it was the food. your best bet is to have her allergy tested. then you will hopefully know for sure what is bothering her. she's awful young so you don't want a life of steriod injections and food changes. the allergy test often tests for environement and food allergies. if it's food then you'll know what in the food is bothering her and be able to choose a brand of food that doesn't have that ingredient. if it's environemental, then if you can't remove the problem, such as a grass or other nature problem, you can get allergy shots that are designed to help her build up a resistance to that allergen. allergy testing can be expensive, but in the end it's often worth it. science diet does make a allergy food that has almost no allergens in it, it's called z/d ultra. if you are feeding an allergy food from the vet you can give no other foods or treats while on it. and yes often the dog does not like these foods. ask your vet if it comes in a canned form you can mix a small amount of canned with to help your dog want to eat it more. personally i would just go for the allergy testing instead of hit and miss experiments with the food. good luck and i hope she soon gets to feeling better. also i'm assuming she doesn't have fleas?
Reply:check out eaglepack holistic dog foods.
www.eaglepack.com they have proven to help dogs with allergic skin problems....
Reply:I would suggest perhaps an organic natural brand of food I think there's one that's called nuero pro something to that efffect and there is also a wash made for dogs with sensitive skin, and if she has allergies now she'll have that allergy all of her life just hope it's the food and nothing more serious! :-)
Reply:My dog had the same problem and actually it just turned out to be sensitive skin. And I went out and tried a bunch of different dog shampoos. I found that regular baby shampoo works the best. And as you said it shouldn't be fleas since you have her on regular flea treatments. I would try the baby shampoo because it will get her just as clean but it doesn't have any of the unnecessary ingredients that other shampoos have.
Reply:It sounds like my jack russell. She had the exact same symptoms, which she eventually grew out of. But it was just from walking around on normal grass. Going outside made her itch. Hopefully yours will grow out of it too. :)
Reply:When i brought my 5 month pup home his skin was clean. He developed red round spot's. The vet didn't know what it was so he treated the pup for three kind's of mange allthough they didn't think that was it. They said it could be a change in the water. Anyway, it cleared up. I would try another vet.
Reply:My nephew's dog had a lot of problems with allergies. They needed to get the allergy testing. It turned out their dog was allergic to human skin! How's that for bad luck. Get your dog for the testing. Save your dog from lots of unneeded change of diet.

Look at something with no corn or wheat in the first 5 ingredients...preferably no corn at all. If you esp. like Royal Canin they do make special diets......with no corn. They make a Hypoallergenic food as well as the single source protein foods.
Potato and Whitefish for example:

Skin allergies?
Hi, I actually read this really good article about skin allergies and how to get relief, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure:
http://www.carefair.com/Skincare/Skin-Di...
Skin allergies?
Consult a determologist if you have any skin allergies issues.
Reply:since you didn't give much detail, I am assuming you have a skin allergy.
There are a lot of synthetic ingredients that cause dermatitis.
Too much detergent in the laundry, dryer sheets, fabric softener, etc. can cause skin allergies.
Do a little homework and you can figure out what is causing the allergy. why take drugs for something you can avoid?

Skin allergies and rat terriers. Any suggestions. I heard of people giving benadryl and hydrocortinzone.?
Here's a site with otc meds, including benedryl, that you can give to dogs and cats. Dosage is by weight

You need to take the little one to the vet. He will tell you what is causing the problem and the appropriate treatment. You can;t just guess on it being an allergy. If it's not giving the wrong treatment may only make things worse.
Reply:I use generic Benerdryl for allergies, hydrocortazone can be used on sores b4 a walk so it soaks in. I have had the skin allergy testing done on severe cases.
Reply:Remember hydrocortisone is a cortico-steroid. You can't put it on large areas of skin because it will be absorbed through the skin and depress the adrenal glands. Benadryl is safer unless it is a very small area.

How much does it cost for skin investigations on a dog?
My staffie suffers from skin allergies and is going back to the vet tomorrow to discuss what to do next as the antibiotics he was given last time didn't really have any effect.
The vet suggested that he carry out skin ivestigations to find out exactly what it is he's allergic to. Does anyone know how much this is likely to cost?

can be up to about £200 for just the tests as they have to mail them off to a lab in Sheffield i think and then the results are returned, you'll have to pay more for the treatment.
Reply:in can add up.
u need to find the dog first then follow him and once you get the chance jump him take him to a lab and get it checked out, phew it is a lot of work.
good luck.
Reply:Well theres the cocst of the visit and the scrappings they may do.........and then tests .........maybe bloodwork etc.....call the office and get a run down on prices before appt. ask to talk to the doc too. My dog is allergic to his tags so in warm weather we leave his collar off.........to find this out it cost me 34. + the 42. for visit!
Reply:A simple skin scrape test should not be much under $50
How ever allergiy testing can be very expensive. My cousin spent over $5000 on hos dog and they never could find out anything that was really wrong. They even had the dog eating a kangaroo meat diet and it did not help.
Staffies are known to have skin issues and allergy issues.
It could be anything from his food to the stuff you clean with in the house.
One of my clients had problems with some liquid stuff that went in to the vacuum cleaner that made the dog break out.
Good luck I hope you find something easy to fix.
Reply:I think the cost varies from vet to vet, make sure you shop around
before you tell the vet to carry out any tests
Reply:If you love your dog as much as you say you do. Then the cost should not matter too you as long as you dog it ok
Reply:she's probably allergic to grass mites. My basset hound has skin allergies too ... she was on many dosage of antibiotics - to the point she was taking human drugs but to no avail...
They would probably cost quite a bit. Depending on where you're from ...
Reply:Surley your pet insurance should cover that!
Reply:My westie suffers from a skin allergy too, and my vet has done all tests and has now found out that he has an allergy to dustmites but I can not remember how much it was, sorry . At the moment he is having injections and there is an 80% of them working (they dont do anything like shorten there lives) and 1 worked it out that they will cost around £400 to £500 a year for the rest of his life. If you would like anymore info just email me. Hope this helps.
Reply:Allergy tests are about $300. There are different types of tests, one being a "Top 40" allergens, and the other (don't know cost, but it's got to be very high!!!) is a more through test that checks for about 100+ allergens. We did the 40+ and found out that, unfortunately, my dog is a little bit allergic to everything! Yikes!
If your allergy tests show that the dog is allergic to a specific thing (or two), then you get a batch of serum to take home, and you inject your dog every so often with the serum to build up it's tolerance to the allergen. Those vials are about $100, and that cost gets less and less over time. Since that wasn't an option for my dog, we're trying Atopica, which is about $110/month (!).
Up till the point of solving the allergy mystery, plan on about $40 for an anti-inflammatory injection to ease the pup's pain, and about $40/bottle for oral anti-inflammatory.
Reply:I had my Wolfhound allergy tested earlier this year. This included blood tests and skin scrapes and cost around £400.
Reply:Seeing that he is insured then this should cover all costs up to the maximum limit per condition depending on which level you opted for. Ask your vet if he will directly claim from your insurance company. If they are not prepared to do that then could you ask for a flexible payment plan untill you get the money from the insurance
Reply:We had that done for our Alaskan Malamute 3 weeks ago %26amp; it was £400 for us but it saved our dog from suffering %26amp; us weeks or months of endless worry trying to change his diet around to find out what it was. It only took 2 weeks for the results.
Good Luck!!!
Reply:Staffs are prone to skin disorders and also ear mites..nothing the vet gives you is any use..just costs a fortune..try human exzcema ointment and dont use harsh shampoos....if you live near the sea sometimes salt water swimming helps.
Reply:my staffie also suffers from the same thing , the vets told me he would when i first took him for his needles when he was a puppy . Apparently this is common in staffies in particulary white coloured dogs , mine even turns pink when he eats something he shouldnt !! There is a range of food on the market called 'Hills' diet and they produce a dry dog food for dogs with a sensitve skin disorder and it actually worked for him ! its pretty expensive but 'Pets at Home' do a similar version for half the price of the 'Hills' and its much the same !
sorry if uve already tried this but it worked for me !

My dog has skin allergies!?
please help. my dog has allergies. he scratches all over and his furr falls out. its so sad. we go to a great vet. about every month we go to refill his medicine and he gets a shot everytime. but when he runs out, it starts again. does anybody know any ways to stop him from itching and so we dont need to go to the vet everytime? help please!
My dog has skin allergies!?
See if your vet can do a specific allergy test to find out exactly what the dog is allergic to, so you can remove the allergens from his environment. My dog has the same problems with allergies, but one of her worst one's was corn. After we got her on a dog food that wasn't made with corn as a filler, she's doing a lot better. Since it sound's like your dog has pretty severe allergies, you might have to change a lot of things in his diet and with plants or other things in the house, but you'll both be happier in the long run.
Reply:poor baby/try brushing him daily/ i really/ don't know/can the vet/ recommend /a shampoo/ or soap /good luck /on your endeavor
Reply:feeding your dog some bacon grease on the food a couple times a week helps with dry skin. I would ask the vet what kind of allergies does the dog have. You could be feeding your dog something that causes the problem. Also ask the vet what kind of med is he giving the dog you may be able to order it online or something without paying a vet bill. If he needs the med just get a refill or something sence he already knows what the problem is why make you pay a bill every month?
Reply:i mom has a dog that is allergic to frontline...i mean it got bad, she was always sracthing and digging, and her hair was falling out, and her skin looked bad, mom thought it was fleas, and the vet said they needed to take better care of her, which hurt my little bros feelings...then one day mom forgot the frontline and she started getting better....

Dog with skin problems?
Hello, my foster dog came to me a few weeks ago %26amp; he has been itching up a storm. He was dx with dermititis from his previous vet %26amp; prescribed anti-biotics %26amp; another med I believe to be a steriod (label was wrecked when I got it). I do not believe in using medicines (drugs) unless it is absolutely necessary. Scooby was on a poor diet for most of his life, he is 6, but for the last month or so he has been on Canidae. I give him fresh herbs, supplements, Omega 3's, garlic, DMG, Organic apple cider vinegar, home prepared food, yogurt, cottage cheese, 2 homeopathic pearls, %26amp; I use flower essenses for skin %26amp; allergies. I don't know if there is anything else I may have missed. He is on Frontline (applied before he arrived), %26amp; he came in itching so it is not something just here. It could be his horrible diet of 6 years of Kibbles %26amp; Bits. thank you for reading %26amp; any suggestions.
Dog with skin problems?
yuck kibbles and bits is one of the worst if you even would want to call it food....im not familiar with canidae food, cause its unavailable in my area. just make sure there is a meat meal as the first ingredient, i recomend duck and oatmeal for skin problems. things to avoid are byproducts, soy, wheat, corn, dairy, beef, dies, bha, bht, and ethoxyquin. food that has naturally occuring digestive enzymes will help your dogs stomach out, help him absorb nutrition more, and will increase immunity. if you are feeding supplaments, your dog food is not giving everything. there should be no need for supplaments. id probably say look into a different meat thats in the food cause chicken and beef and sometimes lamb causes allergies. and sheese and dairy you are feeding him isnt helping much either. try out eagle pack holistic select duck and oatmeal formula or the anchovy formula too. the results will take 2 weeks to a month to see...and then the overall transfomation will occur within 6 months.
**edit** you dont seem like the person to do this but NO TABLE SCRAPS and human food, they can not digest it and it just causes more problems.
Reply:I don't know if Canidae makes one or not, but I would put him on a grain free diet. Lots of dogs clear up without grains in their diets. Other than that, everything you are giving sounds good, I would also add MSM.
Reply:I feed eaglepack to my dogs an innova Evo. www.eaglepack.com
for allergies, I would give him a 1/2 to whole tablet of chlortrimeton 2 x daily and cut out all the other stuff, except maybe kelp.
Kelp Products of Florida is what I use, has all the trace minerals, etc. grows new hair, increases pigmentation healthier dogs truly. Also maybe some enzymes ~ nuzymes...
Reply:you need to put the meds on it.they will dig there self to death.
well something terrible i mean.till they have no hair and there skin is raw.this is very hard to treat and usally returns...

Sounds like Scooby might have allergies - talk to a vet!
I also believe you might get a WHOLE lot more responses and better advice if you asked your question under the Dogs section of Pets.

Skin patch testing question.?
Wondering if anyone has had patch testing for skin allergies at the dermatologist and can answer a question for me?
I went on Monday and got the patches on and forgot to tell them about the fact that I was prescribed Flonase 3 days earlier by the allergist. In fact, I forgot all about even being on the Flonase since I had just started it.
Does anyone know if this will affect the results of the test? I go back Friday to get the 2nd round of results read. The patches have been off since Wednesday after I got my first (negative) reading.
I KNOW I am allergic to things because I have reactions. I just don't want to go through all of this trouble to have these tests come back negative because of a drug interaction. (By the way...I am pretty sure that the test they used is called True Test if that makes any difference).
Anyone?
Thanks and sorry for the long question.
Skin patch testing question.?
Relax the Flonase has a local effect and will not affect the patch tests applied to your back or arms.
The True Test checks for allergies to the 23 most common allergens. There is a possibility that you may be allergic to one of dozens of other allergens. So a negative test does not mean that you are wrong about being allergic-- just that they haven't found what you are allergic to.

Hair coloring for sensitive skin?
I have sensitive skin and skin allergies. But, I really need to put some color in my hair, semi-permanent would be fine. Does anyone have any recommendations for a gentle hair coloring product, or one that they had good luck with as far as no skin reactions? Thanks.
Hair coloring for sensitive skin?
I've always had good luck with Clairol and Loreal.
But do a skin test with it before you do it, just in case. You should make sure you'll be ok before you cover your head with it.
Also, when coloring, keep an old towel handy and wipe away any color that gets on your skin (ears, neck, face, etc)
Definitely do the skin test first though to keep yourself ok!
Reply:kool-aid
Reply:loreal natural match is a permaneant haircolor with no ammonia and its made with some natural ingredients, i haven`t tried it yet but its supposed to be pretty gentle, if your still concerned why don`t you try consulting a trusted hairdresser about it. good luck!
Reply:Well apart from something using a cream peroxide as opposed to liqued peroxide, I'm not sure.
One thing I would strongly advise though is that you try a little patch test on the inside of your wrist first and leave the product on for the length of time it says to on the box and wait for 24 hours at least to see how you are effected.
You could also put vaseline around your hairline on your skin... not your hair to help protect that.
Are you really sure you must colour your hair? Be careful honey.
Reply:I use Redken Shades EQ, which is semi-permanent hair color. I have very sensitive skin , and have to be really careful with make up and moisterizers, but Shades has never bothered me.
It is a professional product, so you can't buy it in stores. What I did was to have it done in a salon one time to see what color to get and how to apply it, then I ordered the stuff on ebay to do myself at home.

It is a professional product, so you can't buy it in stores. What I did was to have it done in a salon one time to see what color to get and how to apply it, then I ordered the stuff on ebay to do myself at home.
My dog has some type of allergy?
hello i have a maltipoo and he's a year old... he has always had pretty soft hair but lately he has been biting his lower back.. i came home froms school and now he has no hair in that area because he has been biting it. I had some lotion that is pink and people use to for poison ivy or skin allergies i put a little on him and he stop scratching it for like 2 days and now he's doing the same thing... he has two little bumps what do you think it is. he has an appointment with the vet in teo weeks but i just wanted to know what can i do i dont want him to be scratching and biting his lower back anymore.
My dog has some type of allergy?
Maybe he has feas! If he has been running around in your yard then maybe. He might just have a skin infection though. Humans can get hives which are red dots but I doubt that's it! Hope I could help!

Dog skin allergies?
I have a PBGV. He is 12 years old. His allergies are out of control this year. We have had him on everything..but most products only work for a short time. He is chewing, itching, scratching..it starts with yeast in the ear..and goes from there..the places that are bare from scratching are dry and wrinkly..he smells awful..and I bathe him 2ce a week. The best product I have found is mane n tail protect line..it works great usually..but I can rarely find it. I also like seargeants antimacrobial line..niether EVER has 2 products side by side at any store...it burns me up...I need more suggestions.
Dog skin allergies?
My doggie is like that, but he's only 6 months old!!! It's so sad! If you're tired of trying topical solutions, you may want to ask your vet about Atopica. It's an expensive, but effective, form of oral allergy control. I'd bet, if you're really struggling with your dog's allergies, that a few months on Atopica is less expensive than the cost of several "over the counter" remedies combined.
This is a "severe" solution, but worth checking out. Good luck!
Reply:My dog's ears get really bad. he scratches them until they bleed. We can't give him chicken or beef. He was on vegetarian food for a while, but that made his stools soft and nasty. Now he's on a salmon kind. He gets itchy some, but not like he used to. Your dog may have a food alergy as well, in which case, mediacation won't help if you are still giving him that food.
Reply:Are you sure that its an allergy and not eczema?
Reply:Read the label on his food. Corn and Wheat cause the severe allergies like you describe. So do certain additives and preservatives. If you can't pronounce every ingredient on the label, consider changing to a better quality brand.
Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin for all the gruesome details. You will be shocked and amazed.
Natura Pet Products puts out California Natural and Innova. They have done wonders for allergic dogs. Get California Natural Skin and Coat Supplement. It's fantastic, you will love the results.
Look up, Artemis, Wellness, and Canidae. They are great as well.
Reply:have you been to the vet? you need to check with the vet before trying this because it depends on weight of the dog, benadryl is good for allergies one half of tablet or if you can find it 12 mg please ask the vet first about this one as far as itching ang scratching goes you can try these Tgel by neutragena shampoo it is a people shampoo but it works great bathe the dog and let it sit on there for 3 minutes if possible, you can also try selson blue, or head and shoulders dry skin only sulpher shampoo for dogs at a pet store works well for the hotspots, try a little peroxide on the ears for the yeast and then apply anti itch cream like cortisone cream for dogs at your local pet store also make sure that the food he/she is eating is not breaking him out, sometimes the dyes in the food they eat makes them allergic. if you are worried about fleas the beat thing to use is frontline you can buy it at a pet store but with dogs you have to have their exact weight, and when all else fails go to the vet, I do hope this helps your pet good luck
Reply:you should try switching his food, something with only a couple ingredients (wellness simple solutions). also bathe him with an oatmeal shampoo and leave it on his skin for 5 minutes while you are lathering it up, hopefully this alleviates some of his itchiness. you also are probably bathing him TOO often. dogs shouldn't be bathed that much, it dries out their skin, which complicates itchiness. try once every 2 weeks. give him some fish oil pills to restore the moisture to his skin and coat, that should also help with some of the itchiness ( you could use olive oil or lanolin oil, there are many different kinds to use, I just find the fish oil gel caps are liked by my dog). hope some of this helps you!
Reply:You don't say if you know or not what your dog is allergic to. My bulldog had terrible skin problems (ears and eyes too) Finally got her tested (i changed Vets) turns out she's allergic to tons of different food. corn, wheat, flour poultry etc. Now she eats only Natural Balance dog food. (Pet smart carries it) But it could be fabrics or grasses or parasites etc. Treat the cause, not the symptoms
Reply:I know your pain. First you are bathing him way too often this will only further to dry out his skin. Instead trying using a conditioner one him every few days that wil lhelp to get some oil back into his skin. For me dog I have a special allergy that works GREAT, but you can only get it from your vet, so you may want to ask about that. Next make sure that you put cotton balls in his ears when you do give him a bath, bc when water gets trapped in his ears it will produce yeast which could cause an infection. Good Luck keep at it, I know it is difficult seeing you dog so uncomfortable.
Reply:My 6 yr old dog has the same problem. I have tried everything, and found something that worked. I started with a better food, and it took a couple of different brands to find one that he likes. Then, I bought 1-800 pet meds oatmeal shampoo, and conditioner, it's fairly inexpensive. When I put him in the tub to bathe him, I pour peroxide on the areas that he bites, and scratches the most. Then I bathe him. After the bath, he gets wiped down with Kalaya Emu oil (glo-marr-kenic.com), which is an oil moisturizing, anti-fungal product. It works great, and I highly recommend it. My dog no longer smells near as bad as he used to, now he smells like a normal dog.
Reply:Skin allergies are the worst! It's so frustrating to owners and pets because there is literally a whole world of possible allergic triggers.
It may sound extreme, but you should look in to having your pup allergy tested. Veterinary schools can do it, as well as larger, progressive animal practices. The reaction can be triggered by an inhalant, a contact, or an injested particle.
There are many vet prescribed topical shampoos and creams that may help- a good physical is the first step. If that's been done, and there is not a plan of action to help you and your pup, a second opinion is very good idea.
Best of luck, I hope there's relief in your near future:)
Reply:I feel your pain!! We have a 3 year old wolf hybrid who started having skin problems when he was about 1 and 1/2. He would get open sores on his feet chew on his self ears were stinking. It was terrible the vet I was going to couldn't figure out what was going on with him. So we switched vets and the first thing he did was sit us up an appointment with a dermatologist. We had to treat him with strong antibiotics to get rid of all the infections then after 3 months of antibiotics we finally got to give him an allergy test. They shaved his side and picked him with needles to see what he is allergic to and to find out he is allergic to everything in the free world except food 3 types of grass and dust. He now has to have an allergy shot once a week that was designed especially for his allergies. He still will have outbreaks from time to time since there is no cure but with the shots its easier to treat and less likely to happen as severe. Good luck I know its frustrating.
Reply:Please take your dog to the vet and tell him about what your dog is doing. Also take along a list of the medicines that your dog is taking. Be sure and write down the dosage of the medicine (how much you give your dog and how often.)
I had a terrier who was allergic to grass pollen and this caused hot spots on her back and she had to have the spots shaved so that I could put the Dermalone on them and so that they could heal. They cleared up quite nicely. You have to remember that you should be consistent in applying the medication. Do not skip a time and then try to make up for it the next time by giving a double dose. This could cause an allergic reaction. It sounds like you are trying to treat the allergy with over the counter medication. This is not a good idea. I know that it's cheaper but unless you are a vet you do not know what allergy your dog has or what medicine the dog should have to treat the allergy. Please take your doggie to the vet.
Reply:Someone already mentioned on here to treat the problem and not the symptoms which is probably the best advice you could ever receive. My guess is that your problem stems from his diet and is showing itself through his skin. Try switching him to a raw diet, dogs were not designed to eat rice and grains and a life time of eating them can cause problems latter in life as you are finding out. Some good raw manufacturers are urban carnivore, mountain dog and BARF. You can also make your own at home which is a cheaper but more time consuming. All of the manufactures I mentioned have websites and if you search RAW food diets you will find a million recipes if you chose to go that way. Switch over slowly mixing 10% new food with 90% old food and slowly increase the amount of new food until old one is completely phased out. Also add cold water fish oil (omega 3 fatty acids) to his diet, you can buy this in a liquid form and add directly to food or you can buy a can of sardines and feed him 1 or 2 a week. You'll be amazed at what this will do for his skin and coat!
Also stop bathing so frequently. By bathing that often you are removing the natural oils from his skin that will aid in his recovery. Essentially you are drying out his skin even more. And when you do bathe him try an oatmeal based product instead of a chemical based product which is what you have been using.
Hope this helps and that you find something to relieve what must be very uncomfortable for both of you!

What skin allergies can boxer dogs get on thier earflaps?
my boxer is constantly scratching at his ears. we have epi-otic, a cleanser that the vet gave us and here we are a month later and he is still scratching to the point that he makes his earflaps bleed. we took him to a specialist and he said it was food allergies, so we put him on an expensive diet (which only helped with his flatulance problem... i would much rather him pass gas than itch till he bleeds) and still, he scratches. we are so frustrated with this because we see how bothersom it is to our pup. we are going for a third opinion this weekend and we hope that someone (hopefully a boxer breeder) will be able to help our 10 month old pup.
What skin allergies can boxer dogs get on thier earflaps?
99% of allergies are cured with a better diet. Expensive food doesn't always guaratee allergy free.
Corn, wheat and soy are all common allergens so avoid these.
Also, many commercial dog foods use chemicals and dyes that don't have to be listed on the label, but they can still cause allergies.
To test if it is in fact being caused by food, Try making him a home diet for a 2 week period to see if it goes away and if it does, you have your culprit.
Make a mixture of chicken and brown rice, and you can add veggies as well. Do a multi vitamin that you can get at a pet supply store to make sure he's getting the proper nutrition.
I run a dog rescue, so we get dogs in all the time with allergy issues and seriously, most of them clear right up after being taken off of commercial food.
Reply:Earfungulitous.
Reply:Read the food label. Skip ones that have corn and wheat.
You have to keep the ears clean and dry. That means cleaning them and using a drying powder at least once a week for the rest of the dog's life.
At this point, you need antibiotics. Go back to the vet and let them clean it out good, get meds and once the dog is better, you can keep her that way.
Reply:i have a boxer (three years old now) never came across this problem...but they do have very dry skin so you have to give them intense moisturizer when you bathe them.....it might be something as simple as extremely dry skin
Reply:Have they mentioned ear mites, or yeast infection in his ears? Seems pretty basic and they've probably checked for those if he's been that many times to the vet. Maybe cortisone shots or prednisone liquid or tabs? Poor baby! Good luck!
Reply:Greetings.
Ask about fly bites. In Summer they can get quite a problem. This also makes their ears itchy and bleed.
I've posted a web site to help sort out it's allergy etc.
Good Luck ciao.
Reply:Go to holistic vet. They will most likely tell you to switch to a grain-free diet, because that is where most dogs get there allergies from. A home-made raw diet is your best option in my opinion.

When I get out of the shower my skin feels like a burning, itch and flares up. Can I have an water allergy?
1. May burn, itch anf lares as you said if the water is too hot for you. Consider using cold or warm water.
2. If the water is normal (cold or warm) and you feel this- check your soap or gel, if non of these are used then, consider using a sponge when you shower or have a bath.
3. I doubt this though- "check your pipeline"

See if getting a water softener helps.

Reply:it's your soap. what are you using? try using something with a moisturizer in it.
Reply:probally the showers you are taking are to hot for your skin water dries out the skin and hot water is really horrible, or you might have an allergy to the soap or shampoo you use
Reply:Is something in your water? Some kind of metal perhaps?
Or maybe you should shower in colder water. Perhaps your body can't stand the heat.

Reply:It sounds like you have at least a good case of dermatitis and perhaps some eczema. I would use a mild soap and get a gentle lotion, like Cetaphil, try using for a couple weeks and see if that doesn't help.
Reply:Does your city add chlorine and flouride to the water like where I live? It could be the chlorine.
Reply:No, not a water allergy. Sounds like an allergy to your soap. Have you ever tried looking up what's in your products? Try it some time. It will make you go non-toxic and never want to go back! The average person uses over 100 chemicals per day on their skin. Of those, about 10% aren't so good! I just found this all out on my own research project... We have decided to shop at a non-toxic store...and we feel so much better. As a matter of fact, my husband's adult acne has gone away.

I have a 7 month old rat terrier puppy and for most of his little life he has had skin allergies. HELP?
i have tried hot spot medicines, benadryl pills, benadryl cream, skin and coat vitamins, brewers yeast vitamins, and then we went to the vet and he got a shot and some pills. it started to get a tiny bit better but soon returned. we also switched him to a lamb and rice food. i also have 3 cats...could he be allergic to them?? i need some new suggestions to try for the poor baby!! please help if you can!!
I have a 7 month old rat terrier puppy and for most of his little life he has had skin allergies. HELP?
cod liver oil capsules may help! Our Cavalier Spaniel has a skin allergy and its helped so much.
Also tea tree dog shampoo/conditioner. These two together have almost cured it! Hope his helps
Edit - Also you may want to make sure the food you're feeding doesn't contain Maize as a lot of dogs are allergic to this. Foods like Burns and James Wellbeloved are good.
Reply:poor little guy. you need to talk to your vet about allergy testing. switching foods doesn't work unless you're sure it's the food and you're taking a risk of upsetting the intestines switching around foods and often it gets you nowhere. most allergy tests will test for common environemental allergens in your area. it will also ask you what kind of trees, grass, bedding fibers, carpeting you have in your house. also you can do a food panel that will test for allergies to common ingredients in pet foods. the test can be expensive, but compared to what you've already spent and will continue to spend it's cheaper in the long run. once the allergy has been pinpointed, hopefully. they can make an antigen much like humans who get allergy shots and hopefully relieve the little guys itching after a few injections. he'll need to be off the steriod shots for a certain period of time before the test can be administered since the steriod can sometimes mask what should be a positive reaction. also if it is a food allergy you'll know exactly what it is and what to feed him to help. good luck.

Reply:poor little guy. you need to talk to your vet about allergy testing. switching foods doesn't work unless you're sure it's the food and you're taking a risk of upsetting the intestines switching around foods and often it gets you nowhere. most allergy tests will test for common environemental allergens in your area. it will also ask you what kind of trees, grass, bedding fibers, carpeting you have in your house. also you can do a food panel that will test for allergies to common ingredients in pet foods. the test can be expensive, but compared to what you've already spent and will continue to spend it's cheaper in the long run. once the allergy has been pinpointed, hopefully. they can make an antigen much like humans who get allergy shots and hopefully relieve the little guys itching after a few injections. he'll need to be off the steriod shots for a certain period of time before the test can be administered since the steriod can sometimes mask what should be a positive reaction. also if it is a food allergy you'll know exactly what it is and what to feed him to help. good luck.
What is the most common allergy for dogs? I have her on hypoallergenic food&she continues to tear at her skin.
what is the main protein source of the food you feed?Even though the food is hypoallergenic,it could be that she has a problem with something in that brand. Most times food problems are because of corn, soy, wheat,or byproducts. At times though a dog may have problems with chicken, beef or some other meat used as the main protein source. If your food uses chicken, you may need to find a lamb based food. You may even have to find some of the specialty foods that use venison, duck,or other protein sources.

Pollen.
Reply:she could have a yeast infection of the skin, ask a vet.
Reply:Dogs can get hayfever allergies just like people. I would guess it's something like that, rather than food. Talk to a vet.
Reply:have you ruled out fleas? Sometimes grass pollen causes problems as well. If you are concerned take her to a vet for a consult. Injections may help or if all else fails you may need to do allergy testing.
Reply:this can be part behavior, though it certainly is triggered
by dry and itchy skin.

Reply:Ragweeds Pollen. my dogs is and get rashes. give ur dog benydrel in a siringe daily to help.
Reply:My dog is allergic to flea-saliva or something like that, because every spring and summer I have to take her to the vet for a shot and put her on heartguard or she will break the skin scratching.
Reply:I am not sure at the cause but it sounds like she has a skin allergy. But duh, that might be redundant. My friend's cocker spaniel has the same problem, unknown cause. She gives him benadryl(under vet instructions), and mixes his dry food with olive oil and moist food. Hope that helps!
Reply:Is it a schnauzer? They are known for having skin allergies. Spring and summer they have hay fever like humans. My pervious dog would sometimes get a dog sized amount of diphenhydramine hcl.(benadryl) She would scratch and scratch like crazy...

Why does my skin develop allergies.?
I have the most sensitive skin in the world. I have suffered from acne since I was about 10. I am 28 now...and no medicine will work...I am pretty sure it is hormonal, but I also notice that my skin develops allergies to things after I use them for long periods of time...(not the skin on my face, the skin on my body.) I used to live for baby lotion, but about two years ago I started to get horrible itchy legs. To the point where I would scratch until I blead. I used to love for using downey on my clothers, but that began to make me itch too. I love washing my clothes with tide, but that too is making me itch. Anything that has lavender is now making me itch. Irish Spring which I used for years is now making me itch.
I also get little bumps from time to time.
The strange thing is if I stop using any of these for a few months, I can use them again without a problem. If you use them often again the itching comes back.
Goldbaums medicated lotion helps...but even that made

Reply:Most people do not think of our skin being an organ, but it is the largest organ we have. It absorbs things that come in contact with it. Most products available to us on the local supermarket shelves contain various man-made chemicals. Your allergies may chemically based.
After prolonged exposure to various medicines, personal care products, and cleaners these allergies can get worse. I would suggest trying natural products. There is an all natural lotion called Renew that would be a great relief to you. It helped me tremendously. If you need help finding a way to get natural products, feel free to ask me :o) Hope you feel better soon!

I recently had allergy testing done. How severe is a plus 1 and a plus 2 testing. I had skin testing done.?
Your doctor can tell you. It's been 3 years since I was tested and I don't remember what the numbers meant.
I recently had allergy testing done. How severe is a plus 1 and a plus 2 testing. I had skin testing done.?
While Scoring for each allergen is important..
remember Allergy is a Cumulative Disease ...
in that a person is allergic to multiple allergens .. typically no one will push the patient beyond their threshold ...
but rather the cumulative Layer of one allergen over another to equal your total Load .. when compared to your Threshold is the key.
so... get tested / and identify as many allergens are feasible to identify %26amp; treat as many allergens as posssible..
reducung the Allergy Load for each .. and therebye reducung your total Load ..such that it is below your Allergy misery Threshold

After swimming in open pool, my skin on the face got small red patches and pimples ? seems to be allergy ?
this is a common problem as a result of bacteria related to feces being in the water. Probably not enough clorine and someone unclean has been in the pool....
Just kidding. I really have no idea.
After swimming in open pool, my skin on the face got small red patches and pimples ? seems to be allergy ?
visit your doctor or urgent care. if it's folliculitis, you may need an antibiotic.
Reply:maybe you have an alergy to chlorine. i do and when i go swimming in pools i become itcy and red and its very irritating. i get acne too. your skin is probably just really sensitive to chlorine.
Reply:Sounds live hives. Its a reaction to the chlorine. They usually go away after a few hours to a few days of not being in the pool. If they don't, put some lotion on.

My baby boy (9 months old) has cracks in his skin on his cheeks very bad- is it a cause of allergy to iron?
My friend said to change his baby milk because it is iron fortified and he might be allergic to it, but he is also a very good eater and already eating all different foods. I changed his milk, and nothing changed.
My baby boy (9 months old) has cracks in his skin on his cheeks very bad- is it a cause of allergy to iron?
My doctor recommended hydrocortisone cream 1/2% only use it twice a week. This helped my daugthers skin. She would also get red bumps from spitting up in her sleep. It got rid of those also! I know Walgreens has it. I would check with your doctor also though incase it is something different!
Reply:Call your doctor....don't take peoples' opinions..

Reply:I suggest you go and ask a doctor for help, but in this case it could be signs of eczema because my sister has that now.

This, my friend, is no allergy. You just need to give up the doggy style position for a while. Might I suggest missionary or spoons?

You are a rare treasure :)
Sorry I can't help with an answer though

Does anyone know what to use to remove scars form my legs due to my skin allergies?
I used to put an olive oil on my scars and it helped!
Reply:The only way to "remove" a scar is surgery, but little things like vitamin e do help fade scars...
Reply:I'd go see your dermatologist.. he might have something prescription strength that will help. Hope things improve.
Reply:While there isn't an elixir, vitamins and increased metabolism via exercising may speed up recovery, colored lotions may help with covering up for the time being, anti-allergy medicines may prevent frequent outbreaks. Plastic surgery isn’t going to help with future spots either. Do see a dermatologist for advice.
Reply:I don't know what gets rid of scars. However, I use Airbrush Legs by Sally Hansen. It covers bruises, red bumps from shaving too hard, and a scar I've got on my knee. It doesn't rub off on clothes and is water resistant. Inexpensive, from Walgreens. I have sensitve skin and it has never irritated me.

What type of weed or grass would cause my malte-poo to have skin allergies?
She is scratching. Her skin is pink and splotchy. My old dog did the same thing when we moved to this house. My neighbor's dog did the same thing when they moved here. It has to be in the yard. What could it be? It has even made some of her hair come out. Poor lil poo.
What type of weed or grass would cause my malte-poo to have skin allergies?
Any kind I'm afraid, even just regular grass. Anyone can be allergic to anything.
Do you know for a fact she's allergic to plants - i.e. has she been seen by a vet? It could be anything she's allergic to, like food, or fleas (ONE flea is enough to cause problems for a dog with flea allergic dermatitis). Or it might not even be an allergy at all - go to the vet to whittle it down to the cause. I'm afraid this isn't going to be solved in one go - either a fairly expensive allergy test can be done to sort out th cause once and for all, or it's a longer process of simply whittling it down.

Also, try a medicated bath at the vet.. along with a checkup. They can check for bugs. and give you more insite on whats wrong
Reply:I don't know anything about that breed but my dog seems to have allergies. Whenever she goes out and spends too much time outside and laying around on the lawn she gets splotchy spots on her tummy and armpits. Sometimes it gets so bad that she scratches until she bleeds, the vet said its just allergies. I have found that getting a hydrocortisone spay or cream made for dogs has really helped. I use the spray because its liquid and absorbs fast so she cant lick it off but she hates the sound of the spray bottle so i just rub it on with my hands, also in the spots that she has scratched too much, i have antibiotic ointment, like neosporin, made for dogs and use that. I always clean her rash area with doggy antiseptic wipes to get rid of any pollen or anything first. It has really helped a lot. I hope that is of some help. Make sure that what ever you use, you buy from a pet store and make sure that it is made for dogs, check with your vet if you have any doubts. good luck and i am sorry your lil poo is all itchy!
Reply:Actual contact with any vegetation, outside of the poison varieties, usually doesn't produce an allergic reaction in dogs. But what does are certain pollens. Dogs can and do get allergies from pollen just as humans do. But their reaction is in the skin.
Yet there may also be a different source of this allergy not related to vegetation-FLEAS. Even if you don't see any fleas on your dog, one bite from a flea can cause flea dermatitis. This is a severe reaction to the saliva of a flea that generally does NOT go away on its own. The dog suffers a tremendous amount during this period, and will scratch and bite at itself constantly. Her fur will also fall out. And the pink you are seeing on her skin is a combination of discoloration from her saliva and the inflammation of her skin (when your skin becomes inflamed, it's usually red, too).
Your best course of action would be to take your dog to the vet. First the problem will be diagnosed. Then a treatment plan will be prescribed.
Usually the doctor will give the dog a steroid or cortizone shot, which will help to calm the skin down. The vet may also give you some medication to administer at home. A medicated shampoo may also be needed to eliminate any staph infection.
Unfortunately the only way to know what the source of the problem is and what to do about it is through your pet's doctor.
Best to you and your "pup"!
Reply:Honestly it could be anything, even a tree from somebody 4 houses up. Allergens can be carried through the wind very easily. The best option if you want to know exactly what it is would be to have an allergy test run by a vet. A little blood, and you will get a complete list of all the dogs allergies.
Reply:It could be something specific to that area. If the housing addition is new or fairly new it could be something in the ground.
It could be some sort contact dermatitis. Galvanized wire fencing, chemicals on the properties, grasses %26amp;/or weeds, tick/flea bites/allergies,................etc.
See if Benedryl will help. You can use cortizone on the spots to relief itching %26amp; burning, you can also use any hemroide medication it does the same thing.
Regular brushing to stimulate the skin may help. If using a slicker brush be careful not give Brush burn.
Keep raw spots washed %26amp; medicate as advised. I my self would apply medication two to three times a day. They will lick or rub it off so keeping it clean is necessary.
Bathe in medicated bath.
