Does n e one have a westie with a dustmite allergy and they have injections to help their skin???
is it an allergy or is it another case of 'westie skin'?

Sadly a lot of Westies suffer from really bad skin problems, so much so that it even has it's own name, hence 'westie skin'.I think it can be very hard to get cleared up. Has your dog actually been allergy tested or is the vet guessing?
Reply:yeah my west highland terrier got dustmites before he had to keep on going up to vets for cream injections and spray to clean it up it will go from him-her are you in private or pdsa vet. thomas
Reply:If you go to your local vet, they maybe able get some cream or stuff that may help.

Have you tried hoovering the dog?
Reply:I feel sorry for the little guy.

Our Westie is just recovering for a rash/allergic reaction brought on by a tick bite (this was our Vets best guess). We followed what the vet said and gave him his medication and rubbed in his cream, it is clearing up.You probably know all this but get the wee fella some dust mite proof bedding and really clean his/her sleeping area and make sure you really rub in any flea/mite/tick cream you get as it takes a while to get through the Westie hair. We groom our wee fella every night check his paws, his ears, all over and we make sure he is up to date with his flea protection but still he got bitten, some things you cannot legislate for. I hope things go well for you and your dog.
