You should have your father see a dermatologist. When dealing with problems like this, there really aren't any substitutes for a good history and physical examination.

Be careful of trying to read websites and making your own diagnosis. It's easy to miss very serious conditions, and many treatments can only be performed by a physician. The best advice for your father is to consult with an experienced dermatologist.
Reply:He could have eczema. This can be a terrible condition for some people. It is not an infection and whicle there are treatments (like steroids) there is no cure. If you Google the word "eczema" you will get a ton of information.

If I were in your father's shoes, i would insist on seeing a dermatologist. It doesn't sound like cancer to me since the steroids clear up the rash. Nevertheless, he should be seen by a specialist to be sure. If it is eczema, there are several non-steroidal creams that can help without making him sick. Also, he should be careful not to let his skin dry out. Whenever he bathes, he shoulkd gently pat himself off, then apply a good moisturizing lotion to his whole body (Eucerin or Aveeno are good.) My sister in law has pretty bad eczema and keeps hers under control by doing this every day. once it becomes routine, it isn't much of a hassle. She also uses Dove soap because it has moistruizers in it.

Good luck and get your dad to a dermatologist.
Reply:Sounds like eczema to me. I get it also. Tell him to use gold bond ultimate healing lotion its good stuff and helps clear it up. If he wants to go to a dermatologist tell the doc you want to try desonside (sp) topical ointment it works great for that too.
