Even with lactaid, sometimes my husband will break out in hives. It's not fun. Last time it spread allover his body - the doctors aren't sure it was the milk allergy, but they feel that it likely was. He had to take steroids to suppress the rash and has been on meds for a month now to get it fully at bay.
