i really want to find out ways to help soothe my dog's skin allergies. Her poor skin is just red and i compare it with my allergy sufferings, it's not stopping!
Avon's "Skin so Soft " any ways that it can be used or any other things you can use it on?
First, look at the food it is eating. About 90% of all allergies are caused by a dogs diet. If the food has more than one major source of protien (chicken, turkey, lamb,) changing their food may help.
If the food check out ok, try a soothing Aveeno Oatmeal bath for a quick fix. A really great allergy shampoo I have found is Earthbaths Tea tree oil and Aloe Vera. It is wonderful for allergy bound dogs.
You can use "Skin so Soft" (I use it on my horse) but it will probably make it worse.
Reply:go to the vet my mom sells avon LOL go to the vet seriously
Reply:Your vet will have a shampoo made just for that. we have a golden retriver who has this problem and we use it weekly it really has helped
Reply:My sister-in-law gives her dog benadryl for it's allergies.
Reply:Maybe your dog is allergic to its food. Try feeding it a chicken and rice based dog food with no by-products. Skin so soft is good for mosquitos for humans and flies for horses, but not sure how it works on dogs.
Reply:Try Benadryl. If your dog is small/medium size then cut the tablet in half. If the dog is large then give a whole one. Also oatmeal shampoo sometimes helps.
Reply:Skin so soft can be used as an ant repellent. If you wipe it on any surface, ants won't go there. As for your dog, first find out what may be causing the allergies. Have you taken the dog to the Vet too. Some dogs are allergic to certain ingredients in dog food like cornmeal. Some allergies can come from flea bites. Also, when you bath your dog try using oatmeal shampoo. So try looking into changing the dog's diet and a flea control like Advantage. Basically, try to find what is the cause of the reaction.
Reply:My mom used to dipute it with water and spray it on her horses to repel flies.
